RS LOgix 5000 S88 /Phase Manager

Hi I have a project where I need to use RSLogix 5000

I have only used Siemens and Mitsibushi for the last 5 yrs and don't have RS Logix

My supplier has quoted me for the mini version but I then found out I need to follow S88 principles so my supplier has quoted me for the phase manager add on

Before I buy any software do I need anything else? The last phase manager code I looked at used SFC code within the running/stopping etc phases for example.

My suppliers software specialist has no experience with phase manager

Is the mini package with phase manager option all I need to write S88 compliant code ?

I can't speak to S88 or phase manager. You already mentioned the ladder issue, (mini alone is limited to ladder.) Just want to make sure you know mini alone, (I know nothing of phase manager) is limited to programming CompactLogix. I bought the mini in October and received disks with installs for StudioLogix ver. 21 and RsLogix from ver. 20 down to 13. Love it and the learning

Hi thanks for the reply, I was aware of the compactlogix limitation.

The high cost of RSLogix 5000 pro for a one off project is a stumbling block lol. In the uk they saw 5000 and put a pound sign against it.

I just want to buy what is needed for the job to be done well

You can program anything to fit the S88 principle and you can do it all in ladder if you want to. It may make it easier if you are familiar and comfortable with SFC to have that option but it's not necessary.

The version of Logix depend on the PLC. I think mini can program the compactlogix and not the contrologix line but you need to check.

Also, you can add the SFC option later by buying the language pack as an add-on.

So ladder for starting code/stopping code etc
