Omorn CP1L with RS-485 option board to Red Lion HMI

Hello,

I currently have a CP1L 14 point AC power PLC. I purchased an option board that is CP1W-CIF11. RS-422A/485 and have RedLion Graphite 07 .
How do I transmit and receive data form the PLC to the HMI using RS-485. I have been trying for two days understanding the theory.

Can someone help me?

The HMI should handle the communications to the CP1L.

You need to configure the HMI for Omron HostLink protocol for the port connected to the CP1L. Make sure the serial parameters are correct. Default on the Omron side are 9600, 7, E, 2.

I have no experience with the Red Lion product.
Information from the web shows it supports over 250 protocols.

gtsuport is correct. The HMI will send signal to and from the Omron CP1L. This will use Omron: Series C PLC protocol.
Default unit number is 00 on the Omron Hostlink.

Wire the HMI to the PLC. Make sure the communication parameters are the same as the Omron. Look at the lights to see if you are sending and receiving information.

I have looked for the manual on-line for the CP1W-CIF11. It shows the dip switches. what do I set to?
I am using 485 (4-wire) and 422 (2-wire).
The Omron option card has RDA-, RDB+, SDA-, SDB+, FG (ground) .
Red Lion (pin 8 to 1) TxA, TxB, COMM, TxEN, RXB, RxA, TxA, TxB.
what wires to what and what dip switches do I use?

Here is the manual for the CP1W-CIF01.
You can only set it for 4 or 2 wire. It cannot be both.
I would use 4 wire.
Pin 1 - Terminating resistance selection - Turn this on if it is the last device on the network.
Pin 2 and 3 - OFF - 4-wire connections
Pin 4 - OFF - Not used
Pin 5 and 6 - ON - RS control enabled - This will prevent echo back.

RDA- to TxA
RDB+ to TxB
SDA- to RDA-
SDB+ to RxB

Only connect the FG to one end. This should be the shield of the cable.
