PanelView Communication?

Hello,

I am new to Allen Bradley and I am looking to changed some I/O on the HMI.
Its a panelview 600: 2711-K6C2 & connected to a SLC5/03.

Is it possible to connect directly to this using a 1747-PIC cable. I also have a 1747-UIC.

I have panelbuilder32 on my laptop. Is it just a matter of uploading the file from the panelview, make my changes and then download?

Yes and yes ( you will need a real serial port on your PC to use the PIC)

Thanks Mickey for your prompt reply.

I don't have a real serial port on my laptop, only USB. Will it work if I use a USB to Serial converter cable?

The AB PIC will only work on a true serial port, as yours is not an AB product I cannot say.

Have you used this PIC to talk to the SLC/503? If you have and it worked then you should be able to talk to the PV.

I think you may have to change the file type before downloading...I could be wrong though.

I agree with Mickey. Use the 1747-UIC. It works great. I use it all the time.
