Basically, when i am online with the processor via and its running, i try to make some online edits and it keeps booting me off. replaced the cables, same problem. SCADA info is updating properly... I ended up making the changes thru DFI serial port. When i talked to RA tech support, they suggested replacing the processor since i have a spare, But i have also had a suggestion to replace the battery (as its been at least 5 years) even though the light on the slc for battery is ok... What are your thoughts Gurus?

I've had that issue a few times before and there is a few different things that can be causing it, easy way to narrow it down is just make yourself a crossover cable and go directly from the SLC to a laptop and try it (Ideally with two different PC's if it doesn't work to confirm it's not a RSLinx issue[See Bob's Post above]). If you can do online edits with the crossover cable it's probably an Ethernet switch starting to die or cable /noise issue. If not then I'd lean more towards the port / software side.

Few other questions:
Have you tried from more than one PC? Or a fresh install?

Have you tried to "Create New File" and then do some online edits? Rather than using a local copy and going online? You won't have the text but It will tell you if there is something wrong with the local file.

How many devices are trying to communicate with that SLC over Ethernet?

I was having the same problem thanks to Mickey by changing the configuration I haven't been kicked off.

I will try this next time i am at this site, or one of the others with a SLC 5/0. Thank you guys, honestly i dont know what i would do without this forum... i think its time i become a LSM.

Whats funny is that when i phoned tech support they went straight to the replace the processor option and never even mentioned this... But i suppose that could be because i was having other issues as well. 1 of which was a stuck hmi button, which now has a 1shot on it to prevent what was happening before. lol.
