Hey folks, wonder if you can help me a bit on this.

For a client I have the opportunity to build a alarm management set based on around 80 DI's at 24VDC and 5 AI's at 0-10VDC.

Outgoing is not too exciting, suspect at around 10 DO's
It also needs an HMI from round about 5 inches.

I am used to work with Crouzet equipment but for several practical reasons (the amount of DI's is one of them) it is not really handy to work with Crouzet on this.

There it is for a maritime application I decided to go for the Siemens S7-1200 series.

Now the question, there is an overwhelming amount of information to be found on these systems but I can't seem to figure out which modules I need to end up at the above specified ports.
Is there someone who can tell me which modules I need for my configuration?

I want to avoid ordering the wrong modules and extend delivery times because of this.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Best regards,
Marc.

Ok, already a little update.

This is the list I managed to generate using the TIA Selection tool.
Does this seem about right to you guys?

"6ES5710-8MA11" "DIN rail 35 mm, length: 483 mm, for 19" cabinets" 0 (1)
"6ES7214-1AG40-0XB0" "CPU 1214C (14 DI 24V DC; 10 DO 24VDC ; 2 AI), PS 24V DC" 1 (1)
"6ES7221-3BD30-0XB0" "Signal board DI 4 x 24V DC 200KHZ" 1 (1)
"6ES7221-1BH32-0XB0" "Digital input, 16 DI, 24V DC" 3 (3)
"6ES7954-8LP01-0AA0" "Memory card, 2 GB" 2 (2)
"6ES7822-0AE03-0YA5" "SIMATIC STEP 7 Basic Floating License Download" 1 (1)
"6ES7822-0AE00-0YY0" "SIMATIC STEP 7 Basic TIA Portal SUS Download" 1 (1)
"6ES7223-1PL32-0XB0" "Digital I/O, 16 DI, 24V DC / 16 DO, relay" 1 (1)

Ok, already a little update.

"6ES7221-3BD30-0XB0" "Signal board DI 4 x 24V DC 200KHZ" 1 (1)
"6ES7221-1BH32-0XB0" "Digital input, 16 DI, 24V DC" 3 (3)

that bold is signal board, maybe instead of that you could take 4 or 5 of regular signal modules, with 4 1BH32 plus built-in 14 you would have 78 total
also missing HMI, i would suggest maybe KTP600 basic (6")
also missing 3 AI maybe SM 1231 AI 4 x 13 bit analog input, (voltage/current), 6ES7231-4HD32-0XB0

Ok, already a little update.
"6ES7223-1PL32-0XB0" "Digital I/O, 16 DI, 24V DC / 16 DO, relay" 1 (1)
i would guess that you do not need this as plc have i think 10 built-in DO which you can use

"6ES7954-8LP01-0AA0" "Memory card, 2 GB" 2 (2)

Memory card is not needed for S7-1200 basic operation.

memory card is not a neccessity with s7-12xxas with s7-3xx. Of course it will help if storage of 12xx CPU's internal memory is not enough.

Ok thanks to you all, will see how far I get with this.

Will first try to get the order and then try to start understanding the Siemens programming.

Memory cards are not required for the 1200, and definitely not a 2GB, but getting a smaller card, like a 24MB card, is often recommended. It can help with firmware upgrades, and it gives you options for things like data logging.

It is also necessary if you need to extend the Load Memory of the 1200. They come with SOME, but for larger projects extra space is often required.

You need special sd card firmware upgrades.
Beside that in addition i would say that normal sd card are also good for transfer program to plc if direct access to plc with programing device is impossible or hard to achieve or impractical

If you use the "6ES7221-3BD30-0XB0" "Signal board DI 4 x 24V DC 200KHZ", be careful, it is only current sourcing. I think that generally in Europe we use Sinking type inputs where the input is at a low voltage and we pull it to a higher voltage to represent an On condition. The Signal Board above works the other way round, the input is normally at a higher voltage and you pull it lower to register an input.

Yes, thanks for that, I choose a signal board because I had no idea what the model numbers represented. But Balash already pointed that out earlier.

Now I'm awaiting my approval for my account with Siemens so I can download the simatic_step_7_basic_v13.exe file which is the trial version. I can download the other 10 files but the executable is protected.

I'm already waiting for approval of my account for 3 days, so before that I cannot start and train myself before I make the order for the equipment.

Big sigh....
