Has anyone here ever used a barcode scanner to set a string register for program selection on a fanuc arm? Normally I would connect the scanner to an AB HMI and use it as a Wedge device to write a value to either a single register or string register depending on the barcodes being scanned but in this case I don't have the option of using an HMI.

I'm not using a PLC and only have the robot controller to interface with, I'm assuming I connect the base station of the Scanner to the controller through Serial/RS232 but I don't know how I read values from that interface.

Any direction would be greatly appreciated, Thank you.
