Hi Experts,

1)I am new user of S7-300. I want to Read some Modbus RTU or Modbus TCP/IP signals by using PLC Which Siemens module or CPU should I use???

2)I am using Wincc Scada 7.0 Software in which i designed multiple screens,i want to share screens on web page how can i do this ???o_O

please Help

For Modbus RTU, you can use a CP340 in the S7-300 rack, or via ET200S and an 1SI module. The CP340 needs a loadable driver. The 1SI does not, so it is the least expensive.

For Modbus TCP, there are library blocks for CP343-1 and for integrated PN interfaces.
The library blocks cost a license per CPU.

Modbus TCP

Hi,

I used the Library for Modbus TCP PN connection to a TSX Premium PLC.
I think a license was around 1000 euros, but I'm not sure about that.

You get a sample program and a special licensing method combined with your CPU serialnumber to avoid multiple use of the license.

I prefer Modbus TCP because you can connect multiple Modbus connections on 1 Siemens CPU.

Regards,
C

Regarding your other question, I think you will need a runtime license for each PC, but I am not very WinCC literate :)

The Modbus TCP license is different depending on if it is for a CP343-1 or for a PN port integrated in the CPU.
For CP343-1: 2XV9450-1MB00 Costs approx 2000 € (!!)
For PN port: 2XV9450-1MB02 Costs approx 700 €.

The ET200S 1SI with Modbus RTU is 6ES7138-4DF11-0AB0 and list price is approx 330 €.

2800 usd ??? Thats way more expensive then what we paid. Wow.

This is the order number for the license:
2XV9450-1MB00
S7 - OPEN MODBUS/TCP FOR NCM_CP, SINGLE LICENSE, ON CD
https://mall.industry.siemens.com/mall/en/WW/Catalog/Product/2XV9450-1MB00
List price is a about 2800 USD.

Blocks you can find here:

I would go for a converter like the anybus, or use an interface PLC like WAGO or something.
We use Beijer HMI panels, they can be used as an interface as well.

pn

i also used the PN license.
Why such a difference in price between cp and pn port on cpu.

Well, you pay for the license. But I still think it is a pretty steep price for a solution that is free in most other brands. Especially the TCP variety.

To be fair, if you use the more modern PLCs (1200 or 1500), the modbus drivers are included. It's a shame they haven't gone back and "improved" their older products, though.

For the 300's, though, I think a protocol converter/gateway is usually a cheaper/cleaner solution than the licensed Siemens comm blocks.
