HI EVERYONE
Can 1747-UIC can be used instead of 1747-PIC to communicate between SLC 5/03 and panel view 550 cat# 2711-B5A5 which is RS-232 (DH-485)communication port. As you know PIC can only work with real serial port of the laptop .

Yes you can use the 1747-UIC to communicate with equipment that is using the DH-485 communication protocol from a PC with only USB Ports, in the same way you would use the 1747-PIC from a PC with a Real Serial Port.

EDIT: that is what you mean, Right? The UIC does is not used to as a communication link between the SLC and the PanelView. It is used to communicate between the PC and the SLC or PV.
