Happy Sunday everyone,
Flying home from a long startup and I notice that the Airbus 321 I am flying on has a 15" HMI at the front of the cabin. Looks like the crew can control the lights and other things in the cabin.

Got me thinking about what kind of hardware they use for that. Do they use standard PLC/HMI equipment or is everything custom built for the Aviation industry?

Just some professional curiosity.

Thanks.

Never been in a ****pit for service, but I do know a lot of train engines were controlled with SLC 5/04's & 5/05's - never saw a 5/03 though.

(And a Siemens PLC in some.)

A few years ago there was an AdvancedHMI user that worked for one of the major airlines and used the software to make an HMI for a training flight simulator. He developed his own customer driver for a GE PLC.

It wasn't anything on the plane itself, but I thought it was interesting hearing about the use of PLCs and HMIs in the flight industry.
