I currently use a 1784 card to comunicate to my slc 500.I am about to upgrade computers and need to upgrade to a usb cable which cable do i need to get that is equal to a 1784-pcm5/b?
Thanks
That's also a bit of a trick question because the 1784-PCM5 was the able with a 9-pin D-shell connector meant for connecting the PLC-5 Classic processors and their Peer Communication Link connector, which ran DH+ protocol.
You could add a 1784-CP7 adapter to connect to the more familiar round connector on a New Platform PLC-5 or an SLC-5/04. Sadly I think there's a generation who wouldn't know why we called that a "Shuttle adapter".
For the OP's purposes, the 1784-U2DHP will work because it has a round connector that is suitable for connecting to the Channel 1 DH+ connector on the SLC-5/04 controller.
DH+ hardware is expensive because it's low-volume and rapidly aging. But it works.
