using a 1747 uic USB to RS232 or 485 through a 1761 cbl pm02 ser b
I can connect to a micrologix 1000 processor however I cannot communicate with a micrologix 1200 ser c processor thru channel 0

any help would be appreciated

I haven't used the 1747 uic USB but - have you tried both DH485 and DF1? The port on the MicroLogix1200 can speak either (though only one at a time).

found it

turns out that when you use the 1747 UIV it will automatically configure as a 485 communication. However if you use a normal usb to serial converter(rs232 specific) then the 1761-cbl-pm02 cable works.

Thanks for the advice Bernie_Carlton.

Mordred is correct, if a little rushed.

The 1747-UIC converts between DF1 Full Duplex protocol on USB and DH-485 protocol on either RS-232 or RS-485.

The probable reason that Mordred was able to connect to the MicroLogix 1000 is that it will automatically sense DH-485 protocol and begin communicating on DH-485 when you plug it into a DH-485 network.

The MicroLogix 1200 and 1500 controllers do not "autosense" the network protocol. Instead, they have software-settable protocol parameters and a "Default Comm" button to switch back to DF1 Full Duplex if you have forgotten or cannot interface with the selected protocol settings.
