Hello I have project that has an encoder included on a motor we were unaware of. It has single or dual channel capability.

The 525 drive has a impulse terminal that is compatible with the freq. of the encoder 100KHZ. But I have the following questions.

1. What would you use a single channel for? Just speed? Position? I know the dual channel9Quadrant) is for direction. Can someone tell which encoder type is used for what?

2. If I used the single channel with the 525 impulse terminal, how would you hook it up? I only ever hooked one up to a encoder card. The 525 just has one terminal for the pulse. So where would the A-go and the A Not go? Or would it be the A and B off of the encoder?

Thank you unclear abour 2.
Would I use A and A Not? A and B?

My partner says to use the drive common and hook it to 0v on the encoder,24V to V+ on encoder and just A to the pulse terminal on drive. This is new to me. I always had atleast a a A and A Not to work with.
