Hi,

I'm trying to connect Moeller XV102 with my computer using cross over cable, but it's not working. On the XV102 IP is 192.168.0.50 and on my computer IP is 192.168.0.51 (tried to change both to different values, but with same subnet - still no luck), network mask on both devices is the same: 255.255.255.0. When I check connection details on my computer I can see it's only sending packets, but not receiving any. I've tried to ping XV102 from my computer, but I don't receive any response - same case when trying to ping my computer from the PLC device.

I've tried to use different cables, but still it doesn't work. Also I've tried to connect another computer to this PLC without success. Any ideas what can be wrong? I would appreciate any help with this issue.

Thanks in advance!

Are you sure you have completely changed the IP address.

You should power down the XV102 and then restart it. Watch the screen as it powers up and it will report the IP address.

We never use cross over cables anymore. Unless the laptop is very old, it will auto detect how it needs to communicate.

One other possibility is that something is wrong with the computer network connection. I have seen this. Can you communicate with anythign else on that port just to confirm that the port can send and receive?

Thanks ndzied1 for your reply.

I believe I've done it already, but I will give it a go once again!

My laptop is not so old. I thought using cross over cable shouldn't be the issue, especially XV102 manual states I need to use cross over cable. Of course I will try with straight through cable to exclude another possible reason.

I've used same port and cable to connect to another laptop and it works like a charm (sending and receiving packets). Also I've failed to connect to the XV102 with another laptop. I suspect it might be some issue with PLC ethernet port.

Thanks for your input once again!

I've tried all your suggestions: rebooting device after changing IP, using straight through cable, connecting from different computer. Still no luck!
