Hello!

I have a SLC500/03 with an 1747-aic adapter for dh485 network. Right now I have an HMI developed with WinCC4.0 that I'm trying to migrate to WinCC 7.0. The problem is that the driver for DH485 was discontinued in WinCC7.0 so I'm trying to find a solution to connect the SLC with WinCC. Would it be enough to use an RS485-Ethernet adapter and an OPC Server to gather the data from the SLC?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum !

The old 1747-PIC/AIC+ driver from Rockwell themselves does not work at all in an OS newer than Windows XP SP2, so it's not surprising that Siemens doesn't support it anymore.

Does WinCC 7.0 have a DF1 Full Duplex driver ? If you, you could use a 1747-UIC, which converts from USB to DH485 but runs the simpler and more robust DF1 Full Duplex protocol on the USB side.

The DH485 protocol requires fairly tight timing, and there are no general-purpose USB or Ethernet to RS485 converters that will work with that protocol.

There are special-purpose devices, though, like the 1747-UIC I mentioned, or the EquusTek DL3500.

Hey

No, WinCC 7 does not support DF1 driver, only Allen Bradley Ethernet IP, the problem is my SLC is 500/3, ethernet is not supported. The problem with the 1747-UIC is my PLC and HMI are not placed close to each other.
I guess there's no other way to get DH485 from the 1747-AIC on the PC but to use the DL3500 or a DL7000 or a DL4500 or a DL6000. I was also thinking of using CH0 on the SLC and an RS232-Ethernet converter, and this actually works, the downside of this, however, is that i'll have to diconnect the HMI everytime I need to connect to the SLC for troubleshooting on CH0.

Thank you
