Control panel location from VFDs

Hi,

Typically how much distance margin should I keep betwwen my VFDs (well pmps around 700HP) and my control panel that houses PLC, HMI and other 110Vac & 24Vdc components in order to eliminate noise problem in my panel??

I don't think any additional spacing is necessary. Adjacent cabinets would be ok.

I am, of course, assuming normal good grounding and shielding practices are observed.

My company has remote I/O mounted in 2000hp dc cabinets. The bridge is behind a metal panel the I/O is mounted on. The panel also mounts the supply xfmrs and fuse blocks. The plc cabinet is on the opposite wall.

If you are using modern VFDs you could also connect them via some communications method if you prefer to remote the plc.

distance is relative if shielding is in between it is a lot better. Also watch the emi over the floor. and cable entries.
use a good filter on your low voltage side too.
