Msg function micrologix

Hi,

i have both a ML1400 and a ML1500 and i would like to make a network using DH485. The ML1500 Will be the main plc with the program and i would like to use the ML1400 to just store the recipie data that the 1500 will need. This has come about due to full memory on the 1500 hence now i have 2.

I understand that the MSG function need to be used but i am not sure how it is used, can anyone help me please?

Thanks

I would start with the 1500 user manual here:

Based on my cursory review of the network ability of 1500, I can't help but to wonder if this is worth the effort and whether you got a better option than using one of them for recipe. What's the overall network situation here?

Any chance you can just add a memory module to the 1500 ? 1764-MM3 has 16k and then you can save the 1400 for another project

I believe the memory module is just for program backup. It doesn't add any functional data storage.

Well thats stupid :)

When I read the below I thought it could store data

Quote:

The memory module provides a simple and flexible program/data transport
mechanism, allowing the user to transfer the program and data to the
controller without the use of a personal computer and programming software
