Hello!

Please see attached. This is for a Badger Meter flow meter. I am looking at the analog output and wondering if this will work with a standard 4-20mA input card in the PLC. I see that the max load resistance is less than the 250 ohms at the 4-20mA input card. Will this work with a standard 4-20mA input card?

TIA,

Greg

There's no such thing as a standard input card. I've seen resistances vary from 62 Ohms to 500 Ohms, with 250 Ohms being most common.

The meter load shows 50 + 50 x (Loop Power V - 9 V) With a 24 VDC supply you can handle 800 Ohms. 50 + 50 x (24-9) = 800

I am sure it will work. What is input Impedance of the Analog input you want to use? I have really never gave much thought to loop resistance unless I was using Hart in the loop.

Are you just looking for a flow rate or are you going to use this signal to totalize flow volume? If you are going to use it for flow totals I would highly recommend that you use the pulse output for that. It is a lot more accurate.
