When accessing the motion direct commands in Studio (ver. 23 in this case), my program crashes (see pics). Any ideas what could be the cause? I've tried updating all the support software (like .NET frameworks and such). I would love some ideas of what else to look for! This is irritating.

Hey Jason,

Here are some options from the knowledgebase to try if you haven't done so already:

Solution 1
For RSLogix 5000 v20 software please go to:
C:\Program Files\Rockwell Software\RSLogix 5000\ENU\v20\Bin\
or
C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockwell Software\RSLogix 5000\ENU\v20\Bin (for 64 bit operating system).

Inside the Bin folder you will find RS5000.exe. Right click on it and go to Run as administrator.

For Studio 5000 software please go to:
C:\Program Files\Rockwell Software\Studio 5000\Logix Designer\ENU\v2x\Bin
or
C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockwell Software\Studio 5000\Logix Designer\ENU\v2x\Bin (for 64 bit operating system).

Inside the Bin folder you will find LogixDesigner.Exe. Right click on it and go to Run as administrator.

Solution 2
Restore user preferences to default. For more details please check 4269 - Reset User Preferences and Screen Setting for RSLogix 5, 500 and 5000 software.

Solution 3
If the issue persists try to disable the start up screen see technote 558651 - RSLogix 5000 v19: Error 0xc015000f on opening software.

-----------------------------------------

Below is the solution from technote 558651

Solution
In order to resolve this issue, you need to disable Start Page Media. Follow the steps below:

Go to Start -> Run
Type regedit and press Enter
Go to HKEY_Current_User\Software\Rockwell Software\RSLogix 5000\Start Page
Change value Never Show from 0 to 1.

------------------------------------------

Solution 4
Please uninstall all components of Microsoft .NET Framework 4. Download and install Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (Standalone Installer).

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17718

Solution 5
If above is not the case, please disable UAC. See technote 54812 - How do I turn off UAC in Windows Vista or Windows 7.

Darren,

Thank you kindly for your suggestions! I have tried all of those already, unfortunately. I have been racking my brain for a solution for quite awhile now for this persistent problem. I have another laptop at work in which this feature works and have compared the two PC's closely. All of the supportive software is the exact same, right down to the versions. Still no dice.

Any other possible recommendations?

No worries, the only other thing I can think of is that I've had to remove Microsoft security updates in the last two weeks as they were preventing me opening FTView and causing issues with RSLinx also. I had to ring TechConnect twice and it was the first thing they recommended that I try.

The updates in question are KB4054517, KB4056888, KB4056890, KB4056891, KB4056892, KB4056895, KB4056896, KB4056898, KB4056899, KB4073291, KB4075199, or KB4075200.

Might be worth a shot uninstalling them if you haven't already.
