I am trying to run a 4 drive set with one powerflex 525 as master using E-I/P through the embedded ethernet port. I have 3 PF 523's as its children / slaves through the DSI port. I've done this multiple times with PF 40's with a 22-comm-e on the master. Standard setup, very straight forward.
I'm not able to see the 523's in the online drive. I have created the ethernet link in studio 5000 (V21) with the E-I/P PF 525 (F/W Rev 2.3) as node 0 and the three 523's (F/W rev 1.1) as nodes 1,2 and 3. I can see the PF 525 in linx (V3.57) as a "Multi Drive". All seems well as per the setup short of the F/W in the drives, more on that later.
The issue is:when I click on "Drive" in the module definitions in Studio I don't get the option to "Correlate" as per the install instructions. I get an error "automatic connection failed" as the online drive is missing a device in port 1,2 and 3. This leads me to believe the drive and the modbus network need to be configured and connected properly, manually, from the drives themselves before correlating. Are you still with me? If so, I have them, seemingly, setup correctly.
Master: RS 485 Data Rate (C123) "3" 9.6K

RS 485 Format (C127) "0" RTU 8-N-1
Multidrive Sel (C169) "1" Network Opt
C 171 - 175 left at default.
What am I missing here? Has anyone setup these drives in this configuration and had luck?
As per the F/W issue with the 523's: I had the 525 @ 1.3 and the 523's all from the supplier @ 1.1 with the same results. I thought it might be a F/W issue and upgraded the 525 via ethernet with control flash to 2.3 without issue. The only way I see to change F/W on the 523's is through the USB on the back of the control board with the .pf5 Up Down Flash program that is configured with connection to the drives. When I use that utility I get an "error reading bin" and the flash upgrade doesn't start. I believe the file to be in the right place in the Crogramfiles(x86)controlFLASH/0001/ETC,ETC as thats where I upgraded the 525 from.
Any help appreciated, let me know if you need any more info.
Thanks guys,
Ted
