RSlogix5000 Rung Comments

I would like to know when you download a program to a PLC using RSlogix5000 are the rung comments sent to the PLC. If they are how can you upload them?

Rung comments (and tag comments) are not downloaded to the PLC.

Yes the rung comments are stored in controller, all you have to do is upload program. This was from AB website.
The software can fully upload the program logic for all four programming languages, as well as tag
names, directly from a controller. This simplifies maintenance because you can always obtain the
original source directly from the controller. With structured text, you can also obtain the in-line
descriptions (comments) from a controller.

Greetings almshouse ...

can you please tell us where in the Allen-Bradley website you found that information? ... we don't doubt that you found it there - but it needs to be corrected ...

thank you ...

are we talking about the same thing? ... RUNGS as in "Ladder Logic" rungs - and the comments for those rungs ...

I think the confusion might be coming from "comments" for the "Structured Text" programming language ... that's different ... we don't normally refer to the "lines" in Structured Text as "rungs" ...

maybe that's where we're getting confused ...

no offense, but I think that you're misreading that ...

the "logic" is the actual programming code ... and you also get the "tagnames" ... but the "rung comments" aren't stored in the controller ...

only with "structured text" will you be able to upload any "comments" ...

PS Edit ... I actually have heard "salesmen" say something like: "With the new ControlLogix all of your documentation is stored in the controller - so you won't have to worry about those offline files like with RSLogix5 and RSLogix500" ... those salesmen were misinformed ...

I think the Compact Flash option is what is being referred to.
