Corona - Out of Country Trips

If you go to a big box home improvement store, then IMO you have a higher chance of exposure then air travel. Mexico is what it has always been, economic zones are usually safe, there are exceptions everywhere, it has a reputation for a reason.

Did you have to quarantine when you got there?

We challenged the customer on that question, but they where more interested in getting the part of the slaughter line up and running, as fast as possible.
But we know this upfront, so we brought all the safety equipment we needed, like mask, gloves, hand sanitizer and we kept a safe distance to other people and we had our own separate trailer in the parking lot as our work base.

I know other colleges that travel, especially to Asia or south america, they start with 2 weeks quarantine in the hotel, before they can go on site.

My 2 Cents for what its worth.
If there is work at home, stay home.
People flying the world for money or vacationing is simply selfish arrogance that put the world in this situation in the first place.

Our province has been new case free for 4 days now, with the weeks preceding seeing only a few cases a day. Restrictions have lifted to a point where things seem almost "normal" again. We can go pretty much anywhere within our own province, most parks & business are opening and most folks move around without the same fear and anxieties that were on display just a few weeks ago, folks are out walking around town again and on the move. We are now allowed to visit other families as well and basically its business as usual. I'm just waiting for our PM to do something stupid that allows people to flow freely from any direction once again. Its what he does, we expect him to goof up!
I even know local contractors, (electrical, cleaning and labor groups) who have had massive upticks in the work demand simply due to the fact that no outsiders are allowed in. The way it should be! Local people doing local work, outsiders do their own local work. Yes, some farmers and other particular industries struggle with this, but they need to adapt to the local work forces instead of relying on outsiders to produce. Even my own company has asked me to travel to the US to work in one of their plants there. I just don't feel the need when there is enough work home that I don't want to travel, even before COVID, planes, airports, hotels, rental cars, other people, you can have it.

I'm just a backwoods nobody who hasn't really been anywhere, but I'm perfectly happy staying in my piece of gods green earth. If you feel the need to travel straight to hell for a few bucks then so be it. Just try not to bring anything home with you to the folks that really make your home a home!

How is that being enforced? that was brought up a few months ago in the US but there is no way to enforce interstate travel, if it is even legal to do so.

It is enforced by way of stationed police at the only highway and bridge entering the province. There are exceptions and recently one person made headlines locally for lying about being in another province and actually causing a small batch of infections to start up. He has the police investigating him now for lying upon re-entry and not self isolating upon his return. If you try to cross the provincial border here without cause or justification, your turned back.
Luckily for us, a smaller population means easier controls and contact tracing after one does pop up.

The only way into the province is from PEI bridge, Locked down. The 104 highway, also locked down. Then by Air, restricted there as well.

I get a bid scared when rules and relegations are forced on my daily life, my freedom to travle is limited and when I am told what i can and can not do.
All because a culture in China is out of sync with reality.

Every major plague we have had in Europe as far back as I have read the history books, all comes from China, how long can we afford to have open bordes to this region?

Also...as I understand...... at least Arizona requires you to quarantine your self for 14 days on return from Mexico.

I have a commissioning trip to US on 1st July. Customer is refusing to delay it.

I'm both very doubtful and hopeful there is no flights from Europe to US in 3 weeks time.

Soooo, say NO. Its your right to refuse unsafe work, If you really don't want to go and you do anyway then your just a puppet!. I'm sure there are programmers in the US.

At least until now, travel from Europe to the US is banned by Trump:
https://www.whitehouse.gov/presiden...ons-pose-risk-transmitting-novel-coronavirus/

If the ban isnt lifted, it will be a case of force majeure, meaning your customer cannot demand you to do the impossible, and you wont be liable or have to carry costs caused by the ban.

I wouldn’t worry about the coronavirus in the US. We’ve moved on, not a single news article about. Now rioting on the other hand...

Also where are they located in the US? some places are not show much of any, until this week our county had 8 cases, if its Arizona I think I would tell them no thank you.

I'm actually in NS for work right now. The Maritimes have locked down their interprovincial borders with all surrounding provinces and each other. There are checkpoints going in or out on all points of entry. You need to present a certificate of essential work, the place where you're going to stay as well as personal details to be allowed to proceed, else you're escorted by police on the road going back.

In my home province, some regions within the province itself were locked out from outside travel even from within the province, in addition to interprovincial checkpoints. There were police checkpoints on the roads. I needed the same kind of certificate to travel 20 minutes from home. I understand that pretty much all such measures are lifted on our side.

There are questions on the legality of such measures in Canada as well given that freedom of movement within the country is guaranteed by the Charter, but such measures would probably pass the Oakes test and count as a justifiable restriction given the circumstances. I don't know whether anyone has even tried to challenge these measures.

Thanks for all of the replies. Looks like I don't have to worry about it - I just went into the hospital and I don't see myself getting out anytime soon. Even if I did get out right away there is zero chance I would do any traveling any time soon. Hopefully by the time I can travel most of this corona garbage is gone.
