Why are Internet Protocol settings unavailable (grayed out) in Compactlogix L24 controller properties? None of the IP settings have been configured yet the controller communicates properly.

These values are not available when you are offline. CompactLogix processors network address is not saved or configured in the offline file like with Logix500 based processors. To change the IP address you need to connect to the processor using the USB (or serial on older models) and change it via RSLinx, or use the BootP protocol.
