Controllino Open PLC

I found this recently:

https://www.controllino.biz/wp-conte...2018-12-14.pdf

Has anyone of you ever tried it out and if positive what are your opinion , It seems to be cheap and I want to try it.

Regards,

There is also Industruino and Industrial Shields based on Arduino platform.

https://www.industruino.com/page/products

https://www.industrialshields.com/in...y-pi-and-esp32

I like to try them all and I think they could be useful for small project where basic IoT functionality is required but it could be difficult to develop large programs in Arduino IDE.
In my opinion Rapsberry Pi based PLCs are much more interesting.

All of the suggested systems appear to work in a similar way. Programmed via Arduino IDE, Labview, etc.

I would find a project that allowed it to be used for monitoring only to prove it out, like any other new system.

Based on the retail cost, it is unlikely there is buffering for the IO pins on the modules that have a 5V interface.

The 12/24V is a bit more expensive and would need at lease level shifters to interface to the arduino. So if a voltage spike is (unintentionally) applied to an input, it may just kill the level shifter instead of the whole arduino.

I have difficulty calling these PLCs as they don't appear to support Ladder logic, function block, Sequential Function Chart, Structured Text. Did I miss that? There also does not appear to be a watchdog function ... where if something goes wrong with your program (infinite loops do happen), the outputs go to a safe or default state

I think that they have a niche to fill, and standard sensors can be used that can also be used with PLCs ... but the Arduino programming at least does not support many of the debugging functions that are 'normal' in PLCs - status of IO displayed real-time within the code, online edits that do not stop your process, etc.

Just my opinion, of course!

There is Kunbus who make an industrialized Raspberry PI with a CodeSys PLC onboard.
https://revolution.kunbus.de/

(so not Arduino, but in the same 'league' so to speak).
