Factorytalk View Studio ME version 10. Is there a way to set the default color for new components globally in a project (buttons, etc.) so that when a new item is added it isn't the default bright blue?

No, I don't believe FTViewME has that ability, unfortunately. I'd suggest submitting it as a suggestion, but we all know how effective that's been over the years :ROFLMAO:

The key word there is "globally"...

If you mean "globally" as in a setting in the software tools or properties for all Objects created anywhere in the application, then no, I dont recall such a feature.

If you mean "globally" as in Objects created first at the Global level and then used anywhere in the application, then yes, this is possible...

44602 - FactoryTalk View Global Object Defaults
Access Level: TechConnect

Look into "Link properties" and see if this achieves your goal...

"...Link properties are given default values when the reference object is created. You can change the default values that are assigned to a new reference object by setting the global object defaults..."

George
