What happened to the Free Lite edition of this and RS Linx Lite? I keep seeing references to it but cannot find it on Rockwell's site. I have an account, but anywhere I try to go requires a valid SN and product key.

I need to read a 1200 MicroLogix. I have no other use for any form of RSLogix so I am not interested in buying it at this time. If there are some other methods to read this PLC, even just trial methods, I'd be open to those as well and would appreciate any advice.

Thanks.

9324-RLM0800ENE RSLogix MicroLogix Developer - $500
Works for all MicroLogix series: 1000, 1100, 1200, 1400, 1500
Doesn’t work for SLC 500 series

The starter version, 9324-RLM0100ENE, for the Micrologix is around $151.00. Price was $140.00 a few weeks ago.

That sounds more reasonable. If I was going to have to buy 500 I would probably just replace it with something else.

I will look into that, thanks for the help everyone.

Thread hijack here, what is the difference between these two? I may need to buy a rs500 license for connecting to a ml1200.

I got the developer version for online editing of compatible processors (1100 and 1400). The 1200 doesn’t have that capability. Another reason for choosing developer was the linked comparison below states only developer has “data table usage”. I deciphered that to mean the very handy usage button with a data table open to toggle between data and usage. However, I'm pretty sure I’ve seen that functional with the free starter lite version.

I thought starter didn’t do online editing. Looking at the comparison now, it appears I was wrong. Lite (free) doesn’t, but starter ($150) does.

Starter allows some degree of online editing but it depends on what you want to change...some edits are not allowed....I find it largely useless...when I am developing an application while using my machine simulator, I am CONSTANTLY having to go go offline , make the changes and then re-download to the PLC..
