My main question is what hardware do I need to make the connections. Is a 1761-NET-AIC module required?

I'm going to use channel 2 (the 9-pin D-Shell) and configure it to Modbus RTU Master.

Use Channel 0 and use the 1763-NC01 breakout box. When wiring use Terminal A for negative and B for Positive communication. Put a jumper between TERM and A on the 1763-NC01 module.
Set Channel 0 to Modbus RTU Master and No Handshake (RS-485)

Mitsubishi VFD's can communicate by Modbus RTU two wire RS-485.

Sweet thanks!
