Hi,

Have any body used AB IFM modules (1492 series)? I can not figure out how the inputs or outputs are releated to IFM terminal no. For example if I use IFM40F-3 with IB 32 module, Where will be my first input on IFM terminal and so on? As far as I know it is not given in the one manual I have for 1492.

Any body sharing previous experience will be apperciated.

Thanks,

1492-IFM details

When you actually get the IFM40F-3 in your hands it will become clear. Until then, the adhesive labels are probably the best clues.

There are two 3-row terminal blocks on the 1492-IFM40F-3.

Each top row has just 16 terminals, and a blank plastic space to the right side (you can see this in the photos in the Selection Guide if you know to look for it!)

The middle and bottom rows have 18 terminals, which are staggered to allow screwdriver access to the terminal clamp screws. These are all internally jumpered as "V+" and "COM" and the 1492 prewired cables ("H" for 1746-IB32 and "Z" for 1756-IB32) will connect them to the proper terminals on your PLC module.

Look at the adhesive labels on page 153 and 154 of the Selection Guide.... the blank space on the right side of the label matches the blank plastic to the right of the two 16-terminal top rows.

So why are the terminal blocks called "IFM20" and "IFM40" if they don't have that number of terminals ? Because that's the number of pins on the cable header of the assembly.
