Hi,

I have a PC with WinCC 7.4 and a PLC 315-2DP with 343-1 card. I cannot get connection to the PLC in the tag management while settings of the ethernet driver seem right...

Any idea what I overlooked ?

Thanks in advance,

Hi,

Don't know why the attachements were not shown, but I got it online...
I think that placing an IO Field on a screen that requires updating did the connection, is that possible ? So a long you don't ask a tag, the connection could remain in 'not connected' status I think. I'm not sure about this, but that's the impression I got..

I can't see your attachments, not sure why

Sounds plausible, at the very least. I know WinCC tries to minimize tag access as possible, managing unused connections seems the next logical step.

Not sure about WinCC, but in WinCCFlex/TIA I usually just browse for a tag in the plc and drag it over, this creates the connection for me.

I can say for WinCC 7.3 that WinCC connects to the PLC at runtime start and holds the connection open, even if there is no tag under this connection.
At least it subscribes always to mode transition events like run/stop/warmstart in the PLC.
