SLC500 5/02. 1747 PIC okay. 1747 UIC No GO

Why will a SLC 500 5/02 communicate with a 1747 PIC but not the 1747 UIC? I've been using the UIC on several fixed units as well as 5/01 models. I just bought a 5/02 and the UIC won't connect. The PIC unit will.

I tried a hand held programmer on the 5/02 and could not connect either. I read a message "illegal network".

Can anyone suggest a reason or a solution to why my 5/02 can communicate with the PIC but not the UIC?

Thank you for your time and help;
Frank

Check your port definitions at the control panel.

Try also to connect the UIC to the PLC and to the PC.
Then restart your computer.
It might the UIC find different port No.

Frank. What cable did you use to pair the UIC and the 5/01 . ? I'm working on that setup but I was told that I have to use a 1747-C13 cable. I was using a regular patch cord. any workaround to that money.??

beginner1, this is a very old thread but your question is pertinent.

For the 1747-UIC I use a straight ethernet cable between the 1747 and the plug on the cpu that LOOKS like an ethernet, the RJ-45. Whatever you do, DO NOT make the mistake of connecting your laptop's ethernet RJ45 direct to the CPU, it will smoke it. To remind me of this I have a straight ethernet cable that is a special color and I know not to connect it to an ethernet port. You can use a 10 or 25-foot ethernet cable no problem.

This is the whole history

Hello guys.
I did post the comment here even though is an all thread because i started a thread yesterday regarding an issue that i'm having to setup a 1747-UIC to communicate with an SLC 5/01.
The two answers from people that were kindly helping concluded that I would need to get the 1747-c13 cable.
Heartbroken I was "living" when I found this thread.

the whole infoprmation is in the thread called:
1747-uic vs. Slc 5/01

I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks
