Hello,

Can anyone advise me which is the best way to communicate data between a Modicon Quantum PLC and a GE Fanuc RX3i CPU?

Are they communicate with each other directly over ethernet? or does the GE Fanuc PLC need to have a Modbus comms card fitted to it with comms then happening over Modbus?

Thanks,
Rob

You have three options:
1. serial comm module (this is what you want to avoid)
2. using the serial ports (one RS232, one RS485) from the CPU and work with COMM_REQ
3. using Modbus TCP via separate Ethernet modul (probably, it's already there)

Another alternative and more expensive idea would be to use a redlion datastation or G3 hmi to handle the transfers.
