2711-k6c5l1 PanelView 600 to Ethernet

I have a old PanelView standard 600 I plan on using in my garage for setting up security.
The garage is about 60 feet from the house SLC-500 and 5/04. I have a 2711-NC22 cable that needs be about another 20 feet longer at least..
What would be a good solution to get it to work? Can I get a longer serial cable? Or what do I need to get it to communicate on Ethernet?

Thank you

The 2711-K6C5L1 terminal has an RS-232 port that runs DH485 protocol.

You could connect it to an SLC-5/04 with a straight-through RS-232 serial cable, for which the typical maximum length is 50 feet.

I've run low-capacitance cable with RS-232 signals for about 200 feet with good success. 60 or 70 feet isn't stretching the 50-foot limit of RS-232 by very much.

There is no practical way to connect this terminal to Ethernet. There are a couple of *impractical* ways, with network gateways, but those are far too expensive for a home rig.

Your PV supports DH485 protocol.

Your 2711-NC22 cable will not work, the round port on your SLC5/04 is DH+ protocol and cannot be changed to DH485.

You will have to use the 9 pin serial port on the SLC5/04 configured for DH485 protocol.
60 feet should not be a problem. A 2711-NC14 is the proper cable ( its just a straight thru cable, make your own)

Edit: Ken types faster.
