Relay programming using ladder

Hi,
New to the forum, completely inexperienced in ladder programming but the logic is there.
I was wondering if anybody had experience with programmable relays and what software ect they use.
I have seen that a PILZ PSS4000 relay has its own software , PAS4000 .Are there ways of programming these without specific software?

Programmable relays are small PLC's programming without software is most unlikely, the best you could hope for is free software or reasonable cost.
The Pilz is really for safety applications I believe, do you really mean PLC's rather than programmable relays?

I've done a few small projects using these and the software is free.

Not to difficult to use if you have some basic PLC knowledge.
