I was wondering if anyone has any experience with wireless machine IO. I'm working on a project that will require wireless machine inputs. The devices will be about 30 feet away. I need it to be relatively cheap. Any suggestions?

I used some I/O from Phoenix a couple of years ago.
They worked out really well, but you have to buy them in a pair as I remember.

I've seen it done with cheap wi-fi routers using a Gefran PLC, but this could be any PLC that can have remote ethernet I/O

Jon,

Let me know if this is what you are looking to do...

Through the serial port connected to a PLC and a wireless access point you can do what you had briefly mentioned. The diagrams may be more complex than what you are looking to do, but hopefully you get the gist.

Feel free to respond here, pm, or email through the link below if you would like to discuss your requirements further.
