Sorry to bother everyone but I'm having real problems.
The setup is:
SLC5/03 with a 1747-ASB series B in slot 1.
1794-ASB series E in the field with 6 X 1794-OW8's in the rack.
The dip switches in the 1794-ASB are all set to ON.
The advanced config for the 1747-ASB is:
Scanned input and output words = 32.
M0 and M1 lengths = 3300.
G file length = 3.
G Data:
Logical Rack 0, Group 0, 3/4 Rack.
Diagnostics:
1747-ASB Comms flashing red, Fault no indication.
1794-ASB Power Green, Active flashing green, Adapter Fault no indication,
Local Fault no indication.
When I unplug the comms on the 1794-ASB the Active has no indication.
I have tested the cable and can read the opposing 150ohm resistor from either end, no grounds.
I have checked the plug on the 1794-ASB and all the pins are fine.
According to the 1794-ASB manual the module is in Program or Test mode.
What do they mean ?

Thanks in advance,
Barry

It is supposed to have worked. I installed it around 12 years ago and it worked then but somebody may have played with it. It has been idle for the last 3 years at least.

1747-ASB red fault light solid - Major fault (see attached)

1794-ASB flashing green - thinks PLC in program or test mode, so not communicating with 1794-ASB, probably a consequence of the major fault in the 1747-ASB....

Have you a spare 1747-ASB?

The Scanner module that goes in the chassis with the SLC CPU is a 1747-SN.

The 1747-ASB goes into its own chassis as an adapter; you don't have one of those.

Unfortunately the 1747-SN doesn't have a whole lot in the way of diagnostics features, just that one LED indicating there's a network problem.

Modified setup

The setup is:
SLC5/03 with a 1747-SN series B in slot 1.
1794-ASB series E in the field with 6 X 1794-OW8's in the rack.
The dip switches in the 1794-ASB are all set to ON.
The advanced config for the 1747-SN is:
Scanned input and output words = 32.
M0 and M1 lengths = 3300.
G file length = 3.
G Data:
Logical Rack 0, Group 0, 3/4 Rack.
Diagnostics:
1747-SN Comms flashing red, Fault no indication.

Can someone check the 1794-ASB dipswitch configuration and the 1747-SN configuration for me please ?

Unfortunately the Comm LED flashing red does not generate error indications to the SLC processor, according to the manual. Thanks for your reply. Can you check my config and G data for the SN and the dipswitch settings for the ASB ?

OK, I got it working. The problem was that the last 2 modules in the rack were dead. Strange that the ASB did not come up with some sort of local fault ?
