Micrologix 1500 Faulting with memory module

We programmed a Micrologix 1500 we had left over. We forgot to insert the memory module. So we powered down, inserted the memory module and powered back up. The controller now has a flashing fault light and we cannot make contact through our programming cable. Any ideas what happened and how to get into the processor so we can clear the fault?

Did the memory module have a program in it? If so it may have changed the way the comm port(s) are configured.

The ML1500 has a comm toggle button, this will set the comm ports back to their default settings. See PDF

Or it had no program but the CPU was set to 'read' and read nothing (also loaded nothing) and set the CPU back to default

Did you try to reconfigure your DF1 driver?

See attached picture. Disclaimer - snapshot taken from a project for a ML1400, but I *think* they have the same options. Hope this helps.
