Step 7 Hardware Config Adding Module Error

I am trying to install an FVDO-P or an FVDO-P2 module into my hardware config in Siemens Step 7.

That is slot 5 of my module. But, when I try to install the module into that slot, there is an error saying that the module can not be installed in Slot 5.

See attached image #2.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Dave

This has nothing to do with Step 7 as you are working with Festo.
Read the docs provided by Festo.
What's an FVDO-P and what's the 3DO-F?
A safety module of sorts?
I do know that the last module I've always used is the one shown in your current configuration which is the actual solenoid bank.
Have you tried possibly inserting the new module after the solenoid block?
Or even move the digital Input blocks from the previous slot and try inserting there?
It may have to be the first module in the first slot.
I have no Festo docs nor Step7 available right now.
It's worth a try.

Another thought.... possible that your new module needs two consecutive slots?
If that's the case you don't have 2 available as the solenoid module sits in slot 6.
Can you move the solenoid module to slot 7 and try again?

It is a Safety Module.
Here's a link to the festo site: http://www.festo.com/net/fi_fi/SupportPortal/default.aspx?cat=2406&tab=3&offset=30
download the manual and check out page 107 under commissioning.
It should work with a single slot.
Are you sure your Festo hardware revs and such allow the configuration of safety modules?

From the manual:
3.1.1 Device master file (GSDML and GSD)
In combination with the output module CPX-FVDA-P2, you
need a current device master file GSDML/GSD for configura-
tion and programming

3. Commissioning
3-4
Festo P.BE-CPX-FVDA-P2-EN en 1209NH English
Source Current versions of the GSDML/GSD files for CPX terminals
can be found on the Festo website at:
www.festo.com/fieldbus
Import the GSDML/GSD file into the project of the configura-
tion program. After import, you can select the CPX terminal
with the output moduleCPX-FVDA-P2 in the configuration
program and edit it (e.g. set F-parameter).
Configuration, parametrisation and commissioning of the CPX
terminal with CPX-FVDA-P2 are dependent on the control sys-
tem used.
Detailed information can be found in the documentation of
the control system used and in the online help of the config-
uration software used
