Hello, I would like to install a 1.25k-ohm potentiometer to a 1794-IE8. All I have is a 24VDC source. I noticed that the input ranges from 0-15VDC. Will this hurt the module? As I read this it looks like a silly question....maybe the heat? šŸ™ƒ

Try using a 250k ohm resistor on the wiper of the pot going to the PLC, this should drop the voltage down from 0-24 to 0-10ish

You need a 750 ohm from +24DC to the potentiometer and then voltage in the cursor will vary from 0 to 15V .

The total power dissipation will be V2 / R -> 0.29W

Also instead de 750ohm resistor you can use a 500ohm fixed resistor and a 500ohm trimmer potentiometer in series, then you can adjust exactly the 15VDC max. voltage in the main potentiometer

I do it all the time... but my pots are only 1k, thats where lfe got the 750 and mine are 250k

Thats also why I have a large bag of resistors that vary in size, I only use 1k pots so the math is easier :D
