I am trying to connect my compactlogix to a socket server located in my computer listening at 192.168.1.99:10000.

When using the msg instruction--> CIP Generic/Create Socket, communication Path 2,192.168.1.99 source element (3 word user defined Family = 2 Port= 10000 Addr=0).

I am using the default source length = 12, but have tested this value up to 20,000; I keep receiving the error 16#0013 "Configuration size too short".

Has anybody accomplished this kind of communication?

I would recommend you to download technote 32962 and test functionality manually
Then you can use Socket AOI provided in the RA Knowledgebase or wrte your own.
