DAServer doesn't connect to SMC

FSGateway was not appear in the SMC. The log file showing:

Warning DAServerManager GetInstalledServers method failed, hr=80070005

How can I fix it? Please Help.

0x80070005 is access denied. This could be a DCOM setting but if this was working and now is now is not and you are running on a Windows 7 or higher operating system it is possible that you recently installed a patch from Microsoft that Mitigates the threat of the Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities.

Is it because of Windows update? And how do I can fix it?

The OPC Foundation has initiated a call/case with Microsoft, who by the way is a member of the foundation as well, to look into the impact and ways to mitigate the vulnerabilities without impacting COM and DCOM so dramatically. The the link on the foundation forum about that.

For those that have been in the industry long enough you may recall a similar problem when Microsoft released XP SP2 which not only broke OPC but also broke most of the Microsoft apps as well. So it will get fixed but it will take a little time and everyone will need to be patient.

Now you can back out the security updates but that means that if your PC's can be reached outside of your plant either directly or indirectly they will be vulnerable to these exploits.

I am using Win10 version 1709 (OS build 16299.192). I also found that the OPC server can't connect since windows update, but I thought was because my setting or software issue.

Btw do you know where can I get the latest update about this issue?
