PLCs Phoenix Contact connected to Proface HMI

First thought is wires.
Then the questions come.
Ethernet is good. Does both the Phoenix and the Proface have Ethernet?
The Cheers got me. Is there a Irish section in Vietnam.

Thanks for yor visit our website,
From the original manufacture, Proface HMI was not designed to say with Phoenix Contact's PLCs ( http://www.pro-face.com/otasuke/qa/gp3000/replace/connect/connect.php?rm=2).

But i post this one, that i hope there are any one develop a driver or have an experience for this case.

Thanks any way,
Ban

You don't say which Phoenix PLC you are working with.

I have used Modbus TCP to communicate with a Phoenix Contact ILC350 VLC (Runs VLC a.k.a. Steeplechase Software).

Same should be true of the ILC350 ETH (Runs PCWorx which is IEC 61131 software).

Which model of Phoenix PLC are you using.
If it is the new NanoLine then the expansion Ethernet module talks native Modbus TCP.

Since Pro-Face is owned by Schneider there should be no problem connecting one of their HMI's to the Phoenix NanoLine.

:)

In the proface software (Are you using GP Pro?) you can select the device (Plc) you want to talk to. I think this is under system settings. Towards the bottom of the screen you select which make of plc, which port etc.

If there is nothing like yours - try proface tech support in your country!

Of course, no one at Pro-face has bothered to develop a special driver for Phoenix Contact. Not yet, anyway.

Therefore, you would have to go with communications using one of the 'open' protocols. Modbus TCP has already been suggested and it is a good choice. On GP-Pro side, you would have to select 'Schneider Electric' and then 'Modbus TCP'.

How to do it on Phoenix side, I am not sure. A quick look at the manual on their site suggest that by default the Ethernet port on the PLC is not configured for any specific protocol - so, in order to use Modbus TCP, there must be a special software library for that.

If it exists, it is likely a separate purchase. Contact your Phoenix vendor to discuss options.
