I have downloaded SimplyModbus and have succeeded in writing values to the PLC, but I cannot seem to read any of the registers. Has anyone had any experience with this?

OK -- I changed the Slave ID to 1 and voila! there's all my data.

Ahhhh but a mystery -- it returned the WRONG data. I am stumped.

it may be offset by 1

Yes, some vendors start at 0 and some start at 1.
