running rs5000 and studio on one laptop

Hi I have a new machine that is written in studio version 21. The only version I have on my laptop is rs5000 20.Can I download and run studio on the one laptop?

I have versions 13 through to 20 of RSLogix5000 and versions 28,30 & 31 of Studio 5000 Logix Designer installed on the same Windows 7 machine with no issues.

If you have the license for revision 21 that will work, but if you're only licensed up to revision 20, you'll have to pay to get the activation for 21. I run both RSLogix 5000 and Studio 5000 on my laptop with no issues.

I have all versions from 17 to 29 running on a Windows 10 laptop, and have upgraded to RSLinx 4.0.

The only issue I have ever had was installing RSLinx 3.73 over 3.70, and had to uninstall 3.73 because it would not run on Win10. No issues with 4.0 so far.

personally, I would keep them separate, but the going rule is CPR9 is compatible with CPR9. (with some hidden exceptions)

just install higher versions last and keep factory talk services as high as possible.
