Hello, I have a PID project and because it is my first PID one, I would like some guidance.

I am watching Kevin's Starr videos
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3viD5ij60EI&t=1096s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boGxBTZx-ek&list=PLOgEb39vsYlsZGdZV-aYeaH4gxYVXxsuw

I am a little confused.
First of all Kevin mention often bump test. What is exactly this test?
To start the machine with manual operation? How this could help me? If not, what values shall I put to p,i,d to have the bump test?

Thanks

A bump test in plain english is seeing how the process that you are trying to control responds to a sudden and significant change in controller output. You "bump" the control output, then observe how the process variable responds to this sudden change.

Search the internet for the three key words (pid bump test), plenty of content out there. E.g. first hit:

I have a simpler PDF explanation somewhere I will have a look for it.
I hope for your sake your project isn't real critical or you could cause some serious problems just commissioning it. I have worked with some real mission critical ones mostly pasteurization temperatures with cascade control on some.
What plc platform are you going to implement your solution on?

Depending on what PLC you are using, I think you should look up the PID instruction info in the specific software you are using. For example if you are using RSlogix 5000 software you can look up the Instruction Help for the PID instruction, this is very useful.

Hi everyone. Thanks for your answers.
At the time I am working with Fatek FBs.
I have read Fatek manual for PID..
I am trying to get the idea...
You are right I will start working with Fatek's function
