i want to know the difference in teco and encoder functioning. i have some servo motors in which teco is connected for motor control. some motors are with encoder. i am little confused in understanding the type of feedback coming from both the devices. please help.

Vivek,
If by teco you mean a tachometer then:

An encoder returns an angular position on the rotating device.
An encoder can also be used to calculate RPMs

A tach can only return RPMs
