1756-ENBT and Raw Sockets
I wanted to confirm with the Gurus that a 1756-ENBT can not create raw sockets. I'm using Rockwells Process Library's T_Sync to connect to an NTP server and I'm having connection errors as the module can not create or open the sockets. The messages are failing with function not supported. I can get the actual error in the morning.
This is a home setup, and in a few months, if the price is right on eBay, ill get a 1756-EN2T or EN2TR.

As far as I understand only the 1756-EN2T(R), 1756-EN3T(R), 1756-EN4T(R) and the 1756-L8x ControlLogix cards support raw sockets. Same with the compactlogix, only the 5370 and 5380 range support raw sockets.

You are correct that the 1756-ENET and 1756-ENBT do not support the "raw sockets" features.
The 1756-ENBT's hardware cousin is the 1756-EWEB; the -EWEB cant do I/O, but it can do ordinary messaging as well as Open Sockets and has an embedded webserver. I have a surplus 1756-EWEB if you've got something fun to trade. |
