I am new to the Allen Bradley products and would like a quick tutorial on how to use RSView. I have built my ladder logic in RSLogix, can connect to it with RSLinx and have installed RSView. Now, when I create a button or motor or whatever in RSView, how do I connect this to my PLC so that it controls the PLC or updates what is happening on the PLC?

You might also try Rockwell's knowledgbase aritcles. You can find lots of helpful little bits of information there that you won't find in the manuals. The suppliers that we purchase our controls equipment from also have their own support staff and can get us in touch with the manufacturers support people when needed. Lean on your suppliers, that's part of what they are there for.

RSView Enterprise Series user manuals are installed along with RSView Studio.
There's a link to them right from inside RSView Studio, by selecting Help -> Online Books -> User Guide Volume 1 & 2.
You can find them directly in the RSI program files directory:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Rockwell\Help

What I would suggest is to sign up for a free 5-day trial of the Rockwell Web-based training. There are three short RSView ME classes that can get you started down the right path.

Also, contact your distributor and ask them for a copy of the RSView ME Software Procedures Guide. It's a manual provided when you attend a class and is definitely a good starting point when you combine it with the web training.
