Hi guys,

Need some advise from you guys, I wonder if I can use Controlnet & DeviceNet cable from 3rd party other than Rockwell Automation? 3rd party like Belden or Kerpen cable. This is to save some cost on the project ;)

Does anyone have the spec of the CNET & DNET cable from AB?

Thanks a lot.

Yes, you can use another brand cable. Just make sure it is conformance tested by the ODVA and Controlnet Organization. Do NOT just an equivalent looking cable.

I would always use the Grey PVC Belden DeviceNet cable in preference to the yellow rubber sheathed AB cable. Lapp's very flexible cable is better than both but it is quite expensive.

Hi guys,

I've tried to source for Belden cable to replace the cable from Rockwell, but it seems it's more expensive than Rockwell, I got a shock!

Hope you guys can let me know if I'm looking at the right cable.

1) Belden 3083A = Rockwell DeviceNet round thick cable (2x signal, 2power, 1x shear) - 1485C-P1-A500

2) Belden 3092A = Rockwell ControlNet RG6 quad shield coax - 1786-RG6

Thanks.

3092A is the ControlNet cable I usually use.

For Devicenet, I use 7896A, which is 600 volt, ODVA Class 1, 8 Amp rated cable. If I do not need the 600 volt insulation rating, I use 3082A, 300 volt, 8 amps ODVA Class 2.

Guys,

Thanks for your info, we decided to stick back to cables from Rockwell, due to some tax exemption stuffs. It'll be additional hassle if we get from too many supplies instead just Rockwell alone.
