Hi folks,

I had received a plc file recently, and when i open the file that's a
windows pop up and message that " c:\siemens\step7\s7proj\watercontrol\watercontrol.s7p " is on write-protected medium.

This cause me cannot do any modification on the ladder program\Hardware configuration... .

Does anyone can give me a solution on that?

Best Regards

Thanks

save the project under another name and re open the new saved project.
Normally you should be able to do modifications.
The only thing you can get is a time stamp failure, but you can check out first if the block code doesn't show differences.

Sinds I carry around all our projects on CD I always encounter this problem.

Go to windows explorer and go to the project files. Select the directory and use the right mouse button to enter the properties of the directory.
Click on read only ones. ALso aply this to all the sub directories.
When the x dissapears before the read only you are finished.
When the x stay's you have to do it again. Then the x should dissapear.

With win 2000 you will get the choice if you want to apply it to all sub directories.
With other windows versions I don't know. Win '98 it's for sure you don't get this choice.
You have to go to the dos-prompt and than go to the directory you want to change. You have to type the following:
ATTRIB -R /S (good old DOS)

For more info on attrib type behind the prompt: help attrib

You should be able to do everything again with your files.
