hi, I am new to the PLC world, i started reading controllogix 5000 manual, there is a number that comes quite often, it is '1756' in 1756 L55M12, 1756 I/0 Modules. What is the significance of this number, is there any particular reason for using it?

Allen-Bradley Company is about 110 years old, and starting from the early days they used "Bulletin Numbers" to designate different products. You still find low bulletin numbers on devices like Bulletin 509 motor starters or Bulletin 140 overload relays that have been sold for decades.

The 17xx family Bulletin Numbers are Allen-Bradley programmable controllers.

Bulletin number 1756 is the ControlLogix family controllers. It's just a part number for a related family of controllers and modules.
