PanelView 6 plus -> 7 plus

Hi,

The PanelView 6 plus is soon to reach the end of lifetime. The PalenView 7 plus is the replacement. What I'm wondering is:

If I can use the same .mer file as straight up replacement?

Can I use the same project in FactoryTalk to continue develop?

I have used the same projects when changing from Panelview Plus 6 to Panelview Plus 7.

Things to watch out for:
The Panelview Plus 7s have more resolution - 10" - 800x600 versus 640x480 on the PVP6. This can be changed in the project settings of project file.

The Panelview Plus 7s only support firmware starting with version 8, but should be able to run older .mer files. I haven't needed to try.

The Panelview Plus 7 Standard models are limited to 25 screens and 500 faults. I think I read something that said they expanded this for version 11, but I'm not sure.

A few updates to my post:

My version 10 of FactoryTalk View ME says the limits on a PVP7 Standard is 50 screens.

The recent manual on Rockwell's site say 100 screens is the new limit.

Standard panels can also only connect to one PLC and can only use Ethernet.

The PVP7 Performance Terminals do not have these limitations.

The cutout sizes are also different, but there are adapters that can be purchased.

I've successfully tried existing MERs all the way back to v5.10 on PV+7 Performance screens with no issues.
As noted, there are some resolution differences in the various models that you might wish to rebuild or rescale the project for.

Does the new PVP7 Standard, support VNC remote access?

Yes, but it's not on by default. You have to turn it on from the WinCE Control panel.

Note that by default the VNC is also set for read-only once turned on iirc.
